"The U.S. Air Force Blue" was written as a recruiting song in the late 1950's. Its popularity was such that it literally saturated the country in the early 1960's
In fact, soon after appearing, it became part of an effort to replace "The U.S. Air Force Song" as the official service song. Though unsuccessful, the popularity of the song remains and it is performed regularly by various units of The U.S. Air Force Band.
The words, music and this arrangement of U.S. Air Force Blue have been purchased outright by the United States Air Force and are in the public domain.
The video below is black and white footage from a Universal-International movie newsreel that features the planes and chorus used in the recruiting commercial. Universal City Studios gifted Universal Newsreel to the American people, put the newsreels into the public domain, and gave film materials to the National Archives in 1976.
